The Secret Life of Bees stars Jennifer Hudson, Sophie Okonedo, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning. Another interesting tid bit is, its also produced by Will Smith and executive produced by Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Secret Life of Bees - Set in South Carolina in 1964, The Secret Life of Bees tells the story of Lily Owens, whose life is shaped by her blurred memory of the afternoon of her mother’s accidental death. When Lily’s black “stand-in mother,” Rosaleen, insults three racists in town, they escape to Tiburon, South Carolina, a town that holds the secret to Lily’s mother’s past. Taken in by an eccentric trio of black beekeeping sisters, Lily is introduced to their mesmerizing world of bees and honey.
