Ben Affleck joins Hillary Clinton at Child Survival: Call to Action

Actor Ben Affleck joined Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah, and other global leaders at Child Survival: Call to Action in Washington D.C. to help fight against child mortality in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Secretary Clinton said that Affleck, who is the Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI) Founder, is “someone whose work has shined a bright light on the struggles facing the people of Eastern Congo, particularly women and children.”

In his speech, Affleck announced ECI’s involvement in a new ADvisory Council on Child Survival in DRC to develop strategies to reduce child mortality in Congo.
“When I visited [eastern Congo] in 2009, I saw firsthand how Eastern Congo Initiative is supporting civil society groups to meet some of the biggest challenges in that country,” said Secretary Clinton.
